Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I.
This position will serve as a study coordinator for clinical research studies focused on pregnant and postpartum women and unhoused individuals with hepatitis C (HCV), supporting senior research team members with protocol screening, participant eligibility determination, recruitment, enrollment, retention, and follow-up. The position will work closely with multidisciplinary clinical and community-based teams to ensure that all study activities are conducted in accordance with the study protocol, Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
General Responsibilities
To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates the full study lifecycle from start-up through maintenance and closure, including participant scheduling, data and specimen collection, study documentation, and communication with participants and clinical and community partners.
Supports high-quality, participant-centered care for individuals and families affected by HCV, with particular attention to the social, transportation, housing, and healthcare-access barriers experienced by pregnant women and people experiencing homelessness.
Additional responsibilities will include managing and documenting study participant incentives, including distribution, tracking, reconciliation, and maintenance of appropriate records in accordance with study and institutional requirements.
On some occasions, the position will also work up to one half-day per weekend in community-based outreach settings, providing point-of-care testing, education, and linkage to care for HCV, HIV, and syphilis among underserved and hard-to-reach populations, in collaboration with outreach teams, healthcare providers, social service organizations, and other community partners.

Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
