General Responsibilities:
To support the well-being of the UAB community by providing comprehensive assistance to postdocs, residents, fellows, and junior faculty throughout postgraduate training and early faculty years as a part of the Advocate for Transitions, Life, and Achievement Support (ATLAS) team. To foster personal well-being by offering guidance for personal and professional needs and connecting learners and new faculty to essential campus and community resources. To provide ongoing follow-up that ensures effective resource connections, addresses evolving needs, and facilitates smooth transitions between services. To collaborate with postgraduate program leaders, institutional stakeholders, and the Office of Wellness team to develop and implement strategies that enhance personal and occupational wellbeing while actively participating in team initiatives and activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Publicizes ATLAS resources, conducts early outreach to new postgraduates and faculty, introduces services, and assesses wellbeing to ensure a strong foundation of support. Provides tailored resources, serves as a primary contact for crisis response, and coordinates with program leadership to address emerging needs. Maintains ongoing follow-up during high-stress periods or transitions and supports career development through guidance on applications, negotiations, and post-training planning.
2. Serves as the expert for navigating medical, mental health, housing, food, financial, and social service resources across campus and the community. Develops and disseminates educational materials and presentations while providing resource guides, practical advice, and workshops on essential life skills such as financial management, time management, legal basics, housing, and healthcare navigation.
3. Collaborates with the UAB Office of Wellness and Employee Assistance and Counseling Center to ensure learners and faculty have awareness of and access to coaching, counseling, and therapy services. Provides compassionate guidance, facilitates referrals as needed, and supports the development of resilience, stress management, and work-life integration skills.
4. Participates in a multidisciplinary consultation team to address postgraduate programs with low wellbeing or cultural scores, attends meetings to assess concerns, and collaborates with program leadership to develop recommendations and improvement plans. Follows up with program leadership to track progress, identifies additional support needs, and collaborates with Office of Wellness leadership to expand and refine the postgraduate wellbeing consultation service line.
5. Develops summary reports that identify trends and actionable insights from check-ins and consultation work with postgraduate programs. Assists in creating and enhancing initiatives that support learner wellbeing and strengthen training program culture. Provides data-driven feedback to leadership to inform continuous improvements and elevate the overall resident experience.
6. Advocates for learner wellbeing and partners with leadership to identify and advance policy improvements that support learners within UAB Medicine. Contributes to campus-wide initiatives and collaborates with departments to enhance resource access and address systemic issues impacting the learner experience.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $60,835 – $98,855

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience will not substitute for the education requirement.

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:
Currently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners, or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC)
