HUMAN RESOURCES PARTNER GENERALIST SENIOR

This position is part of Human Resources Shared Services and will provide strategic human resources support to the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) and Institutional Research Core Program (IRCP). Serves as a primary HR advisor to leadership, faculty, and staff on recruitment, compensation, employee relations, workforce planning, onboarding, retention, and organizational needs. Partners with the Dean's Office and UAB Human Resources to support HR operations, ensure compliance with institutional policies, and advance the strategic priorities of both units.

General Responsibilities

  • To independently manage human resources services to employees within a large, complex division(s), department(s), college, or school.

  • To provide strategic HR advisement for the assigned area and serve as primary contact for all HR related matters in the areas of employment, compensation, employee relations, international recruitment and retention, organizational planning, human resources training and development and onboarding.

  • May work with other UAB-affiliated HR entities.

  • May supervise, mentor, and/or assign tasks to lower level HR support staff.

  • To serve as the liaison to the Office of Human Resources and/or the Dean's office for all academic and non-academic human resources related matters.

  • To interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and programs.

  • May plan, strategize, and advise faculty, staff, fellows, residents, post-docs, and international personnel in key areas such as recruitment, hiring, compensation, termination, etc.

  • To serve as a key team member in assisting with the development and implementation of departmental, college, and/or school-wide HR policies and practices within the guidelines provided by the institution in an effort to strategically advance institutional missions.

  • Serves as a resource/advisor to organization leadership.

  • Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with HR policies, procedures, and programs.

  • With guidance from the Office of Human Resources and/or the Dean's office, partners with employees, supervisors, and managers to communicate various human resources program, policies, procedures and practices, as well as updates in federal and state regulations.

  • Advises supervisors and managers on employee relations issues to resolve concerns and to provide a course of action or appropriate decisions.

  • Provides guidance, with input from the Office of Human Resources, on performance issues and corrective counseling as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $52,555-$85,400

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required.

  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
