Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I. The CRC I will participate in the coordination of Phase 1-4 Infectious Diseases clinical research studies involving HIV negative and/or HIV-positive populations. This position is responsible for following study subjects from screening/enrollment through study completion.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.

  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.

  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensures adherence to appropriate protocols in the retention of study patients/participants, such as the schedule of study visits.

  2. Assists with clinical procedures as necessary during the study clinic visits.

  3. Participates in study training, maintains study certification, and performs specific study protocols, such as but not limited to general physical assessments, neurocognitive assessments, and dental examinations.

  4. Performs follow-up on research patients/participants.

  5. Collects, organizes, and maintains data forms and collection of study data as required.

  6. Secures and examines study participant electronic medical records to determine study eligibility.

  7. Collaborates with study team to ensure data collection is correct and accurate.

  8. Performs Hospital Ascertainment Protocol, which includes obtaining study hospital records, removal of PHI, and uploading of files for study team to review and submit.

  9. QA/QC all study protocols weekly.

  10. Assists the study team with preparing site reports.

  11. Informs study participants of their clinical research results as required.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
