Description
Administers the logistical support for a University-wide program, which is often of a large and/or complex nature. May participate in developing program plans, objectives and directives. May supervise support staff. Acts as a communication liaison with outside resources. Plans and carries out special projects related to the success of the program. Responsible for adherence to program budget. May provide education and training to UAB community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage student progress by documenting rotations, committee formation, committee meetings, defense dates.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress or issues of concern; provide weekly updates to Program Manager and Associate Dean.
- Oversee the dissertation and defense process for graduating students; ensure required forms have been submitted properly; advertise student defense dates; follow up with students to confirm dissertation has been submitted by the Graduate School deadline.
- Finance support to include entering, vendor payments, and purchase order requisitions.
- Provide support for and serve as GBS Program liaison to the Graduate Biomedical Student Outreach group.
- Facilitate monthly meetings for the 8 thematic programs in GBS; ensure student groups and themes adhere to program budget.
- General administrative support for the Office of Graduate Biomedical Sciences to include creating confidential correspondence to students/faculty, maintaining student electronic files, ordering supplies, scheduling of conference rooms, and posting of event and dissertation flyers on campus.
- Participate in various program events such as recruitment weekends, orientation, and annual research symposium.
- Participate in various Graduate School events as needed.
Salary Range: $18.35 - $24.00
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
