Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Psychology, is in search of a dedicated Researcher Assistant to join their team. As a Researcher Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects focused on improving our understanding and treatment of severe mental illnesses (e.g., schizophrenia) under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including research participant data collection and management, basic data analysis, data pre-processing, and maintaining accurate records. Data pre-processing, management, and analysis will involve fMRI and EEG data. Your support will be crucial in helping the principal investigator and more senior lab members execute complex protocols and ensure the smooth functioning of the lab. The candidate meets the qualifications for the Research Assistant role, demonstrating the ability to support day-to-day research operations, including data collection, organization, and record maintenance. They show strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured protocols under supervision. Additionally, the candidate has foundational experience with data processing and analysis and is well-positioned to contribute to projects involving neuroimaging data such as fMRI and EEG.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher Assistant, you will contribute to the daily operations of research projects under the close supervision of experienced researchers. This role involves performing standard research tasks, including sample processing, basic data analysis, and maintaining accurate records. Your support will be crucial in helping senior team members execute complex protocols and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates with principal investigator to help ensure that research projects are performed in accordance with university regulations, sponsored agency policies, and procedures.
Responsible for scheduling, screening, and interviewing participants as well as performing neuropsychological and computerized testing and collecting fMRI and EEG.
Manage, process, and analyze study data.
Support dissemination efforts, including assisting with presentations and manuscripts
Perform other duties as assigned.
Hourly Range: $ 16.50- $ 26.80

Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
