General Responsibilities:
This HR Partner Generalist Senior position supports the Office of Research, a large and complex organization with more than 200 employees across a broad range of roles. The position is designed for an experienced HR professional who enjoys pairing strong people skills with thoughtful problem-solving and is comfortable working with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. The role focuses on supporting recruitment, advising leaders on employee relations and performance management, assisting with salary and equity reviews, and helping bring consistency and structure to HR processes and communication. This position works closely with central HR and the Office of Research's internal finance team to ensure alignment with university policies and procedures. This is an ideal role for someone who is ready to grow as an HR leader, values collaboration, and is interested in developing their leadership skills within a research-focused, mission-driven environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Experience with full-cycle recruitment, including participation on search committees and interview panels.
2. Knowledge of compensation practices, including equity, promotion, and salary review processes.
3. Experience interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures.
4. Ability to analyze and present HR or workforce data to inform leadership decisions.
5. Familiarity with HR systems, payroll/timekeeping processes, and coordination with central HR functions.
6. Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and coach without authority.
7. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex employee relations situations.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with staff and leaders at all levels.
9. High level of organization, judgment, and discretion.
10. Ability to manage up and operate independently while staying aligned with executive priorities.
11. Experience leading, mentoring, or developing staff Candidate Pool.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range: $52,555 – $75,000
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
Preferred related experience:
• Related experience in HR leadership or generalist experience in a complex organization.
• Experience supporting managers and leaders with employee relations and performance management.
• Experience working in higher education, research, healthcare, government, or similarly regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Prior experience supervising or leading at least one staff member is preferred.
