General Responsibilities:
A Clinical Counselor II provides advanced counseling and education services to students and groups, as well as crisis intervention. To handle life-threatening situations and highly sensitive information about clients and the university. To assist in the development and implementation of departmental programs, policies, procedures, and educational materials.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provides direct service activities to include individual, group, and couples counseling and crisis intervention.
2. Provides advanced clinical consultation to the other professional counselors in the department.
3. Serves as a leader in program development and outreach activities, including creating and giving presentations and psycho-education promotion.
4. Provides consultation services to faculty, staff, and students. Serves on departmental, division or campus-wide committees, and research and evaluation activities of Counseling Services.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range: $57,940 – $75,320
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in Counseling or other mental health discipline and four (4) years of post-license experience in a mental health setting is required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences:
Preferred experience in a college or university counseling center.
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:
Currently licensed as a(n) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC) OR currently licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy OR currently licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Demonstrated experience with crisis and high-risk clients.
• Strong communication skills.
