Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Division of Clinical Immunology Rheumatology, is seeking a Part-Time Researcher Senior Lead to join their team. As a Researcher Senior Lead, you will be at the forefront of research leadership, guiding the overall research strategy and overseeing the execution of high-impact NIH-funded projects. This role demands exceptional expertise and visionary thinking, with responsibilities including helping secure major funding, influencing research policy, and driving innovation. The emerging leader takes responsibility for developing experimental protocols and carrying out studies to define cellular metabolic programs that restore immune homeostasis in autoimmune diseases, while leading interdisciplinary teams and maintaining the highest standards of scientific excellence. This position will involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and potentially human specimens.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher Senior Lead, you will be at the forefront of research leadership, guiding the overall research strategy and overseeing the execution of multiple high-impact projects. This emerging leader role demands exceptional expertise and visionary thinking, with responsibilities including securing major funding, influencing research policy, and driving innovation. You will lead large, interdisciplinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of scientific excellence and significantly impacting the field. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and execute a strategic research program focused on immune metabolism and autoimmune disease, setting priorities and guiding interdisciplinary teams.
Design, develop, and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies, including immune assays, molecular, and metabolomic analyses.
Help secure and manage external funding by identifying opportunities, writing grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with NIH and institutional requirements.
Analyze and interpret complex data, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present research at scientific meetings.
Manage collaborations, laboratory operations, and regulatory compliance, including work with research animals and human specimens.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $ 35,568 - $ 41,520
Qualifications
Qualifications
Doctorate degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Ideal candidates should have experience in immune assays and molecular or metabolomic analyses.
Proficiency in designing and executing both in vitro and in vivo studies, along with a strong publication record and prior success in independent or collaborative grant preparation, is highly desirable.
