Description
Under minimal supervision provides a variety of specialized services in support of billing and physician/staff education of coding and billing issues, processing daily charge tickets, insurance
verification, drafting of all charges into IDX, monitoring MSO generated reports, and identifying/resolving discrepancies for multiple outpatient clinics/programs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1.Manages the outpatient billing for multiple clinics and programs. Coordinates billing and physician/staff education of coding and billing issues.
Collects charge tickets. Enters charge ticket procedures and diagnosis into IDX. Ensures each charge has the correct procedure, modifier and location depending on patient insurance. Balances multiple charge entry batches daily. Makes copies of charge tickets and sends to MSO. Files copies into daily folders with provider patient list.
2. Performs insurance verification tasks. Maintains several insurance verification accounts/resources. Verifies insurance for upcoming appointments daily. Corrects and updates any insurance discrepancies in IDX. Determine patient’s copay/outstanding balance and write on charge ticket for registration desk to collect. Communicates with patients about changes to their coverage.
3. Assists in answering all phone calls coming into clinic. Enters patient needs/messages Gives patient appointment information as needed. Reschedules patient appointments as needed.
4. Monitors daily reports and outstanding issues. Runs missing charge reports. Reprints missing charge tickets, gives charge tickets to the providers and then processes charge
ticket for billing into IDX. Works with UAB Department Services liaison and AMB Access to identify and resolve any billing discrepancies or insurance related problems. Monitors daily
cancelation report and reschedules canceled patients. Maintains monthly provider activity
reports.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Rate: $17.00-$18.00
M-F 8am - 4:30pm
Status - Temporary
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or eqiuvalent and three (3) years experience in a medical office setting required.
Associates degree in a related field preferred. Experience with medical terminology and insurance
policies preferred.
