Position Summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Ped - Allergy, is seeking a skilled Researcher II to join their team.

General Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, to set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.

To collect, enter and summarize data.

To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Perform flow cytometry on clinical samples and assist with data analysis in a CLIA-certified Cellular Immunobiology Laboratory as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

  2. Ensure proper handling, preparation, and processing of clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.

  3. Prepare media, set up and read cultures, and perform diagnostic PCR testing on clinical samples in the Diagnostic Mycoplasma Laboratory.

  4. Follow established laboratory procedures and maintain accuracy and quality control in all testing processes.

  5. Transport clinical specimens between the UAB and Children's of Alabama Clinical Laboratories and the Cellular Immunobiology and Diagnostic Mycoplasma Laboratories while ensuring proper specimen handling and chain-of-custody procedures.

  6. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and materials needed for daily laboratory operations, ensuring adequate stock levels and supporting the overall efficiency of laboratory activities.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly Range: $ 15.50- $ 23.51

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field OR Associate's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
