Come be WBHM's next production and news producer to help producer and prepare news content for WBHM's broadcast and audio streams. You'll work with programming, marketing, and fundraising departments to craft media assets, and collaborate on special programming, live remotes, and station events. You'll also act as a back up host for Morning Edition and serve any other hosting needs. There will be opportunities to assist in breaking news situations, coordinate broadcast promos for on-air needs, and participate in station fundraising, on-air hosting and pitching. This position requires our candidate to have solid writing skills for broadcast and a keen ear for engaging content. This position should also seek out opportunities to grow WBHM's audience. The start time for the shift will generally be 8 a.m., but hours may change (temporarily or permanently) depending on news and hosting requirements and without notice. To ensure consistent, engaging content for WBHM. To create and produce original audio and digital content that supports WBHM's news and programming goals. To develop broadcast materials, to assist with promos and fundraising messages, and to collaborate across departments to deliver high-quality media assets. To contribute to breaking news coverage, to support special programming and live events, and to serve as the primary backup host for Morning Addition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Produces original content and prepares materials for WBHM's radio broadcast, streams, and potentially digital platforms.
• Collaborates and coordinates with WBHM departments on audio and digital content published on station platforms.
• Including recording and production assistance with special programming, live remotes, and station events.
• Assists with coverage in breaking news situations.
• Assists WBHM departments (news, programming/operations, development, marketing) in gathering and producing media assets for WBHM.
• Including, but not limited to, spot news, newscasts, promos (writing, recording, and editing), fundraising messages, listener testimonials, etc.
• Works directly with Operations Manager and hosts to coordinate promos across platforms.
• Seeks opportunities to produce content that grows WBHM's audience.
• Acts as the primary backup host for Morning Edition. Serves alongside hosts and announcers for breaking news and planned special coverage as needed.
• Participate in weekly news meetings and other station meetings.
• Participates in station fundraising, including hosting and pitching during on-air fundraising as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $45,395 - $60,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Media, Communications or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.
