FACILITY MANAGER-HSOM

Description
To oversee buildings and labs, acting as the primary contact for facility-related issues within the HSOM. To liaise with UAB Facilities to resolve problems swiftly, expedite renovations, and address occupant concerns. To manage facilities planning, equipment, and energy sustainability, ensuring smooth operations during emergencies and conducting thorough facility assessments. To manage equipment, cost-saving initiatives, and project tasks, while offering recommendations for space planning, renovations, and efficiency enhancements. To coordinate construction projects, manage office and lab relocations, and oversee purchasing, service contracts, and equipment repairs for HSOM common facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a representative for buildings occupied by employees and labs within the HSOM with other HSOM Facilities representatives.
- Acts as the primary contact for facilities related issues in laboratory buildings.
- Interfaces with UAB Facilities to resolve problems, expedites renovation projects, and communicates HSOM occupant issues
- Manages, conducts and coordinates facilities planning, common equipment management, project management and energy management/sustainability for assigned area.
- Maintains physical security system, conducts facility walk-throughs and provides facility management during emergencies.
- Manages equipment, DI water system and helps implement cost saving measures.
- Functions as the project management who performs tasks including cost management, quality assessments and scheduling.
- Makes recommendations and communicates requirements for space planning, renovations, and relocations.
- Acts as the primary planner for laboratory renovations. Evaluates, understands, explains, and translates equipment and workflow requirements.
- Makes recommendations to enhance efficiency.
- Assists with developing and maintaining laboratory design standards.
- Works as part of a team, and independently, to review plans and specifications for renovation/construction projects to ensure plans meet design criteria.
- Monitors project construction of laboratory projects, including working with UAB stakeholders, project managers, architects, engineers, etc.
- Coordinates and communicates project and construction related activities with UAB HSOM departments including scheduling, progress, summaries, shutdowns.
- Coordinates and manages office and lab moves, including but not limited to, physical security, A/V, specialized equipment set-up, lab closeout.
- Prepares and executes purchasing and service contracts.
- Directs and trains individuals to complete purchases.
- Coordinates all repairs and replacement of HSOM common equipment including sterilizers, glassware washers, ice machines, and environmental chambers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range : $63,875 - $103,800
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
