RN CLINIC–STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES (PART-TIME)

Position Summary:
This is a part-time position assigned to the Student Health Center. Under general supervision, direct patient care activities are provided to the highest licensure degree. Partners with clinical staff and providers to maintain established standards and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Health Informatics, Medical Records, and others to ensure patient documentation is complete, accurate, and follows all privacy/security and other regulatory requirements. Review physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization before implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct or assisted care.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Displays competence and maintains standards of professional nursing in providing for specific patient needs. Interviews patient and obtains physical history. Administers medication per physician order and documents appropriately.
2. Triages patient phone calls. May obtain authorization and arrange for diagnostic procedures. May coordinate services such as clinic, lab, imaging, etc., for patients requiring concurrent appointments. May arrange for home care and services.
3. Manages resources for optimal patient flow. May monitor medical supplies.
4. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Provides a safe environment for patients and others. Responds to the unique needs of all patients, ages newborn through geriatric.
5. Assumes leadership role and responds appropriately to emergency/crisis situations.
6. Demonstrates a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
7. Supports quality and fiscal goals for the department and institution.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Pay Range: $29.25 – $35.00
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Nursing required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing is required.
• CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
• Must have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional
• Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills
• Excellent communication, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions
• Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality, customer-friendly service
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and follow FERPA/HIPAA regulations at all times
• Punctual and reliable. Skills include RX refills, assisting in minor procedures, in-person and telephone triage, IVs, and injections
