Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Psychology, is in search of an experienced Researcher Associate to join their team. This individual will perform essential lab-related tasks under the supervision of the principal investigator. Among these tasks, the RA will help to develop study materials; manage study logistics such as IRB review and participant payment setup; run study visits; oversee and participate in data processing (e.g., transcription, behavioral coding, data entry and cleaning); spearhead and organize participant recruitment and scheduling efforts; train and oversee research assistants; screen participants for eligibility; interface with participants in a professional manner and respond to their questions and concerns in a timely way.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Study management (interfacing with the IRB, preparing/submitting amendments in collaboration with PI; assisting with coordination of biosafety training for lab members; managing IT reviews; organizing records and study tasks)
Participant interaction and management (will spearhead and organize participant recruitment efforts; screen participants for eligibility; interface with participants in a professional manner and respond to their questions and concerns in a timely way)
Data collection and processing (will help prepare study materials; collect self-report, biological, and observational data with great attention to detail; and process data after it has been collected)
Training and supervision of undergraduate research students and other lab members in routine lab tasks.
Lab equipment maintenance, purchasing of supplies and materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Hourly Range: $ 19.80- $32.15

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
