ACADEMIC ADVISOR III

The School of Professions is seeking an Academic Advisor III to support several undergraduate programs as well as post-baccalaureate students.
To select academic advising practices that support student success. To create and maintain a safe, equitable and inclusive environment that is responsive to the needs of an increasingly diverse student population. To have an advanced network of cross-campus relationships and resources. To assist academic unit with the interpretation of institutional regulations, policies, offerings and procedures. To create education plans that are consistent with students' aspirations, interests, strengths and values. To implement personal philosophy of academic advising and utilize multiple advising techniques and styles. To create rapport and maintain relationships with expert level of ability. To adapt academic advising approaches to meets the needs of a diverse student population. To deliver training to advisors within unit. To develop new programming and methods for working with students. To provide leadership within department/unit and UAB community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Advising students by selecting academic advising practices to support student success.
• Implements personal advising philosophy and utilizes different techniques and styles.
• Also provides guidance and advise to students on course selection and career planning.
• Teaching first-year experience course.
• Administrative to include working on student services initiatives, reporting, assisting with recruiting events, and orientations.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $46,530 - $75,615
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
