Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a STUDENT ATHLETE ADVISOR II to provide counseling and advising to student-athletes on major and career planning, and to maintain accurate and timely information on academic progress. To assist in coordinating student-athlete orientation and to perform eligibility evaluations. To serve on campus committees and complete projects as assigned. To prepare various reports including graduation plans, weekly academic progress reports, end of semester grade reports and certification reports. To establish and maintain relationships with all student-athletes, coaches and faculty.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides counseling and advising to student-athletes on major and career planning, and maintains accurate and timely information on academic progress.
2. Assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Student-Athlete Academic Support Services Center.
3. Assists in coordinating student-athlete orientation and performs eligibility evaluations.
4. Prepares various reports including graduation plans, weekly academic progress reports, end of semester grade reports and certification reports.
5. Works with faculty and staff to proctor exams for student-athletes at non-standard times or while traveling for athletic competitions.
6. Adheres to all institution, conference and NCAA rules and regulations and reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines. Adheres to the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA).
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $43,890 - $48,500)
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
