Job Summary
The Human Resources Relations Representative II serves as a key advisor to department management and University leadership on a broad range of employee relations matters. This role provides guidance on performance management, documentation, disciplinary actions, and employee problem resolution while ensuring consistent interpretation and application of University policies and procedures.
The position partners closely with HR colleagues as part of a cross-functional team and may lead efforts to identify, address, and resolve complex personnel issues across the institution.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Counsel and advise department management and University officials on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, documentation, corrective action, and discharge decisions.
Assist department leadership in developing action plans and strategies for problem resolution and workforce improvement.
Counsel employees on job-related concerns and workplace issues.
Assist with Department of Labor (DOL) complaints, unemployment compensation claims, exit interviews, and related problem-resolution processes.
Interpret and apply University policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
Serve as an active member of cross-functional HR teams and, when appropriate, take the lead in resolving complex employee relations matters.
Coordinate institutional efforts related to employee retention initiatives.
Support University programs designed to recognize and reward employees.
Assist with enforcement of the Drug-Free Campus and Workplace Policy, including Alcohol and Drug Testing for Reasonable Cause (HR Policy 634).
Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational needs.
Qualifications
bachelor degree in human resources or a related field required
Five (5) years of related professional experience required
Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to analyze complex employee relations issues and recommend appropriate solutions
Negotiation and consultation skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional HR teams
