Position Summary:
This role must be development and growth-minded with the ability to navigate long-term projects, while also being very present in the day-to-day operations. The professional in this role should be a team player who is ok with not always sitting at the desk and is willing to jump in to fill gaps to ensure the success of the building and events at any given time. This person should be a strong communicator and enjoy working alongside college students. Training is a large part of this position. The perfect candidate would have a student affairs background or a master's degree in student affairs.

General Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for all aspects of the employment experience for the Hill Student Center student employee team of 40-50 students. Along with the Student Employee Coordinator, this role provides visionary leadership to aid students in achieving personal and professional growth while contributing to the effective operations of a building that receives 900+ million visitors a year and over 8K events. Due to this role's involvement with several events taking place in the facility at any given time, all members on the team must thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Student Employment:
• Plan and implement staff recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and ongoing development of 40+ student employees, including student employees working in the following areas: building management, facility services, guest services, game room, scheduling and events, social media, and marketing.
• Create an environment promoting and fostering student learning and development, and establish a staff culture that supports the Hill Student Center mission, vision, and core values.
• Create, implement, and periodically review student employment policies and procedures. Oversee student employment wage budget to ensure appropriate and effective use of resources.
2. Staff Supervision:
• Supervise and evaluate professional and student staff members, but not limited to: Student Employment Coordinator, Building Managers, social media and Marketing Coordinator, and indirectly supervise the student team.
3. Assessment and Reporting:
• Conduct assessment, analyze data, and develop reports to inform leadership and make recommendations for program improvement.
4. Facility Operations:
• Provide daily oversight of all HSC operations, including event support and general facility usage in compliance with Hill Student Center and University guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure consistent and quality service standards are met.
5. Department Social Media:
• Oversee and manage departmental social media platforms.
• Develop plans to create and promote innovative campaigns of HSC and campus resources.
• Set and reach goals to expand reach of Hill Student Center social media channels.
6. Professional Development:
• Investigate new and emerging trends and explore opportunities for growth within student center operations.
• Maintain professional skill sets and certifications as appropriate for job responsibilities and as a professional.
• Represent UAB and the Hill Student Center positively through involvement in and contributions to professional organizations.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Pay Range: $47,665 – $55,000

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Business Management, or a related field and three (3) years of experience is required. Master's degree preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
