Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Surgery - Gen Surg Gastrointestinal Section, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Researcher to join their team. The person responsible for this role will be responsible for setting up and performing extensive/routine and established lab procedures in support of the lab goals.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for running assays, cell/tissue cultures, animal studies, etc. as well as entering and summarizing data.
Work with single cell isolation from tissue and using basic laboratory skills of PCR, Western blot and Flow Cytometry.
Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes.
Responsible for assisting and troubleshooting lab equipment and ordering lab supplies.
Responsible for performing a variety of tests with proficiency, troubleshooting lab problems and recommending solutions for correction.

Salary Range: $ 50,050 - $ 81,330
Qualifications
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Degree in biology, chemistry, or other science related fields preferred.
Previous experience with single cell isolation from tissue and plasma, basic laboratory skills of PCR, Western blot and flow cytometry.
