LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Description
Under general supervision, to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care. To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems. To evaluate patient s response to care and report findings to RN, document delivery of patient care, effectively respond to emergency situations, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patients' educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.
Perform routine nursing tasks including catheter placement, blood draws, collection of vital signs, and general patient care. Provide support with miscellaneous clinical and patient-related duties as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists with patient care by executing and administering treatments and procedures directed by supervisor.
2. Reports to supervisor and other staff any patient issues or concerns.
3. Maintains accurate patient records; e.g., charts, schedules, procedures, medication/treatment history, etc.
4. Educates patients and family members in accordance with the established plan of care.
5. Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary range: $47,665 - $77,455
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program or equivalent required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
