Material Trades Worker I (Roofing)
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Position Summary:
The Material Trades Worker I supports roofing operations by picking up and delivering materials and supplies to various job locations on and off the UAB campus. This position assists craftsmen by performing physical labor tasks such as sweeping, mopping, demolition, driving dump trucks, loading dump trucks, carrying materials, performing pickups and deliveries, cleaning cabinets, and installing cove base and ceiling tiles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist roofers with application and repair of roofing materials
· Unload materials, clean roof surfaces, apply roofing materials, and clean job sites upon completion
Starting Hourly Rate of Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (subject to change to meet the needs of the University).
Qualifications
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
· Ability to work independently
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to maintain a good driving record
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions
Personal:
MVR: Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) - Required.
Physical:
Possess the necessary physical requirement, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of the position to include:
· Lifting, carrying and moving a minimum of ninety (90) pounds
· Perform tasks requiring bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus
· Working within extreme temperature ranges
· Working in the rain and in unfavorable weather conditions, hot, cold, wet, etc.
· Working in confined spaces
