This position will be located at the 1917 Clinic, whose mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care for persons living with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. The Patient Services Coordinator II position, under general supervision, provides primarily administrative support to the Social Work Department, assisting social workers with patient coordination, documentation, and access to services. The position works in collaboration with front desk and pharmacy staff to support walk-in patients without scheduled appointments who require assistance. This position requires proficiency with Microsoft Office software, IDX, Impact, and other internal systems once trained. This position includes frequent direct interaction with patients and requires strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating and/or administering certain clinical and patient services and for performing administrative duties in support of physician staff and operations.
Responsible for the conduct of patient scheduling.
Coordinates outpatient scheduling and facilitates in-patient pre-certification and admitting processes as necessary.
Serves as an advocate for patient and patient family assisting patients and patient families with obtaining services and assistance available within the University or Birmingham community.
Answers patient and patient family inquiries verbally or in writing.
Assists in resolving patient problems.
Follows up with patients and patient families regarding post-treatment/post-operative status.
May supervise clerical staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Bachelors in a related field such as Social Work or Sociology
Customer Service Skills
Strong Computer Skills
1-3 Years of experience
Hourly Rate: $16.00- $22.00
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
