Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. This position will be responsible for the coordination of multiple complex clinical studies with the Lung Health Center Clinical Research Coordination Unit. This unit focuses on research in pulmonary indications, including airway disease, interstitial lung disease, and critical care.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.

  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.

  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Collects and records preliminary data for clinical research programs.

  2. Recruits and performs follow-up visits and phone calls with research participants as protocol outline.

  3. Schedules visits according to research protocols.

  4. Coordination of lab and fieldwork.

  5. Prepares for study monitoring visits.

  6. Corrects findings, completes reports, and corresponds with sponsors.

  7. Completion of Case Report Forms (CRF) according to protocol.

  8. Assists with the development of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data quality assurance.

  9. Performs general clerical duties (faxing, scanning, routing messages, coordinating the purchase of Supplies/materials).

  10. Performs a variety of medical procedures under supervision.

  11. Assists in compiling, editing, and proofing written reports for both internal and external administrative offices.

  12. Uses Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems necessary for operations under supervision.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $65,065

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

  • Knowledge of GCP and ICH Guidelines and ability to follow established regulations, procedures, and protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively gather data and document procedures in a timely and professional manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan work.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to function as a clinical research coordinator.

  • Willing to gain knowledge of UAB-specific portals such as REDCap, Oncore, and Greenphire.

  • Willingness to learn clinical skills such as phlebotomy, obtaining vital signs, and Pulmonary Function Testing is desirable.
