The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Program Manager II. The Program Manager II position will oversee the administrative management of the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center's ENRICH program and support its Principal Investigators. Responsibilities include the management of general operations, serve as the primary communication liaison between the PI's, the O'Neal Cancer Center, and other campus departments as necessary, recruit trainees, general financial accounting and human resources tasks, short- and long-term planning, grant and report writing and guidance, and provide input and achieve objectives in the development of program plans and objectives and evaluation/assessment. The position requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan. This position also reports to and works with the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) program to design and implement initiatives consistent with CRTEC's mission.
The O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 51 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States and is the only one in Alabama and in the Deep South region. A comprehensive designation also means UAB Medicine patients have access to leading-edge treatments or clinical trials that they may not otherwise have at local community hospitals or smaller cancer centers. General Responsibilities
Responsible for administratively managing a large or complex University program or multiple programs.
Provides input in the development of program plan and objectives with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters.
Typically supervises small staffs and are responsible for long range planning.
Responsibilities include budgeting, networking/public relations, technical training and assistance, grant and report writing. May handle regulatory responsibilities, contract submissions and identify research funding. May handle event planning and oversight of construction projects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing all operations related to the UAB ENRICH Program, including but not limited to website establishment and updating, recruitment and onboarding of trainees, planning and implementation of the program, evaluations and assessments, the day-to-day coordination of the program, ensuring IRB compliance, tracking of students, coordinating meetings, and planning and overseeing the ENRICH Symposium.
Coordinates and executes meetings with the Internal Advisory Board (IAB) and the External Advisory Board (EAB).
Responsible for administratively managing the NIH-funded UAB ENRICH Program under the general direction of Program Director (s) or under the auspices of a Program Advising Committee and according to an established program plan.
Serves as the primary communication link between the PIs, O'Neal Cancer Center, the Department of Pathology, and other campus departments and the associated community.
Promotes the ENRICH Program through printed materials and conference outlets, including calendars, brochures, announcements, newsletters, and advertising.
Works with UAB marketing and communications staff to coordinate advertising, printed news coverage of the UAB ENRICH-associated events and services, and feature articles about the Program.
Recruiting: Coordinate and participate in local, regional, and national recruiting activities to promote and represent the ENRICH Program and other schools/departments of UAB and review applications throughout the process.
Oversees with administration of the financial and HR aspects of the ENRICH. Oversees the management of the operating budget involving both external and institutional funding sources (e.g., restricted, designated, unrestricted expense or revenue funds).
In partnership with HR personnel, compensation of trainees and collaborator(s), and advisory board members. Maintains the trainee database and tracking of trainees.
Establishes, manages, and maintains communication, including but not limited to newsletters, establishment and maintenance of websites, social media, Slack, Teams, etc.
Works alongside the ENRICH Evaluation Team, responsible for communicating with ENRICH alumni, processing ENRICH participant incentives, and maintaining payment records
Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: $51,270 - $83,300
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Experience related to this position: Grant management and/or educational/training, experience in an academic medical center or institution of higher education.
