The Program Manager II serves as a key member of the strategic leadership recruitment team and plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the HSOM Dean's Office. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, independent judgment, and a collaborative approach to ensure efficient administrative processes and outstanding stakeholder engagement.
Responsible for administratively managing a large or complex University program or multiple programs. Provides input in the development of program plan and objectives with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters. Typically supervises small staffs and are responsible for long range planning. Responsibilities include budgeting, networking/public relations, technical training and assistance, grant and report writing. May handle regulatory responsibilities, contract submissions and identify research funding. May handle event planning and oversight of construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating and executing recruitment activities for the HSOM at the direction of the Administrative Director for Strategic Recruitment. This includes the recruitment of senior leaders (e.g., dean-level positions, department chairs) and leading recruitment of faculty for areas of strategic importance (e.g., cancer, neurosciences, diabetes, etc.)
- Delivers exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and providing accurate information to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Actively participates in the refinement and continuous improvement of the strategic recruitment process.
- Demonstrates a highly collaborative spirit with internal and external stakeholders, serving as an ambassador for UAB.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously, delegating tasks appropriately to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Develops and implements office policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UAB guidelines and applicable regulations, in coordination with the Administrative Director of Strategic Recruitment.
- Manages confidential information and ensures proper organization, updating, and archiving of departmental files and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $51,270 - $83,300
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and represent UAB professionally.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures.
