Position Summary:
This is a clinical position that provides direct mental health services and interventions to students. Counselors not only provide ongoing therapy and treatment, but also mental health crisis support and intervention. Counselors are also available to consult with faculty and staff, provide education and training about mental health topics, and be involved with the UAB campus community. This position will also work with on-campus residential students, including 2 evenings per week during the fall and spring semesters.
General Responsibilities:
To provide counseling and educational services to students in individual, couples and group settings. To provide client intake, assessment and crisis intervention. To assist in the mission of the department in providing outreach, education and consultation to UAB students and campus community.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Directs service activities to students in individuals, couples and group settings. Provides client intakes, assessments and crisis interventions.
2. Delivers program development and outreach activities, including presentations, training and psychoeducation.
3. Provides case management, documentation and clinical staffing treatment planning.
4. Provides consultation services to faculty, staff and students. Serves on departmental, division or campus-wide committees, research and evaluation activities of Counseling Services.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range: $47,665 – $52,000
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in a related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
