Job Description
Under general supervision from Manager, the Systems Analyst III is responsible for successfully executing a diverse range of telecommunications projects related to Avaya/Nortel and Cisco VoIP System deployment and on-going maintenance. Assist in developing Dial Plans, Route Patterns and Translation Patterns. Independent judgment and decision-making skills are required
Primary Responsibilities
· Consult with users to determine most effective configurations to meet both their real and perceived Telephony requirements.
· Conduct on site surveys for additional services needed, and changes of telephone equipment. Prepare service orders based on surveys conducted and user requirements. Maintain files on service orders pending and completed.
· Assist Systems Analyst I in coordination of daily service order activity and long-range planning.
· Assist manager and VoIP Architect in long range planning of Voice Services.
· Successfully maintain all software and hardware components related to the management and function of VoIP stations (firmware updates, software updates and hardware changes, etc.). Train and mentor fellow Telecom technicians on the process and procedures to keep the VoIP software environment current and up to date. Responsible for documenting these processes and procedures.
· May be called upon to perform and/or assist with VoIP system upgrades to include software, hardware and peripheral equipment with assistance of VoIP Architect. Submit upgrades through the Change Management process.
· Responsible for backup support of Systems Analyst I, II and Communication Engineers as needed.
· Assist customers with routine questions. With assistance, provide cost estimates for various types of equipment and monthly charges that may apply.
· This position is responsible for assisting with the design and programming of telephone functions and features on the Avaya Red, Avaya IP Office, Avaya Blue, Nortel BCM, Norstar, and Cisco Unified Call Manager. This position is responsible for assisting with the design and programming of Voice Mail and Automated Attendants on Nortel Call Pilot and Cisco Unity Connect. Assist with the design and programming of Avaya ACD and Cisco UCCX systems. Monitor and correct VoIP system alarms and errors.
· Configure and install fax lines. Install, maintain and repair Paging interface systems. Coordinate leased line, Toll Free Service, etc. through outside vendors. Assist in seeking out new technology in order to satisfy developing communications needs of users.
· Install new telephones and fax lines by making cross-connects on MDF and IDF. This requires a thorough knowledge of the wiring color code. Must be knowledgeable of the various wiring standards. Performs troubleshooting on various telephone systems as needed. Perform moves and changes on telephony equipment as needed. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio.
· Assist with the installation, programming and maintenance of VG410, VG450, AudioCodes and various other analog equipment. This includes installing hardware, associated patch panels and running patch cables as needed. Must also assist in performing upgrades and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
· Maintain, Program, Upgrade, Troubleshoot e911 system/systems as needed.
· Program Cisco telephones as needed. Assist with developing Dial Plans and Route Patterns to the PSTN.
· Program, install and maintain PRI, SIP circuits as needed.
· Must be able to work overtime as needed, travel locally as needed, work on-call as needed and perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in Information Systems or a related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
· Directly related experience supporting an advanced telecommunication system/network.
· Previous experience working with and maintaining Cisco Unified Call Manager, Unity Connect systems and UCCX.
· Ability to punch down cross connects on both 66 and 110 blocks.
· Ability to tone cables using a toner/probe.
· Must be a highly detailed oriented individual with proven project management skills.
· CCM 12.x or higher certification
