Position Summary:

This position is an integral member of the Office Sponsored Programs who exemplifies the UAB mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with UAB policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities:
To provide pre-award and non-financial post-award guidance and processing of simple to complex research grants and contract applications, awards and agreements. To represent the University in negotiating terms and conditions of agreements with private and public sponsors. To assist faculty researchers with contractual matters related to sponsored research activity. To provide assistance to junior staff in grants and contracts administration and assist area management in operational effectiveness.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Reviews proposals, awards, and other agreements for compliance with sponsor regulations, university policies, and applicable state and federal laws.
2. Provides expert guidance and assistance regarding various agreement types, including but not limited to master agreements, research agreements, clinical trials, material transfer agreements (MTAs), confidentiality agreements (CDAs), data use agreements (DUAs), and subcontracts.
3. Serves as a primary resource for questions regarding grants, contracts, and other research-related agreements.
4. Provides technical expertise, training, and problem resolution for contract and grant activities.
5. Leads discussions and develops solutions related to policy interpretation, sponsor requirements, and negotiation strategies.
6. Participates in and/or leads committee and departmental meetings.
7. Identifies opportunities for process improvement, contributes to the development of new procedures, and assists with the implementation of best practices.
8. Trains and mentors both internal staff and campus stakeholders on agreement-related processes and policies.
9. Monitors pending negotiations and identifies potential issues or delays.
10. Communicates with faculty and sponsors to resolve outstanding matters and ensure timely execution of agreements.
11. Reports policy concerns and recommends corrective actions as needed.
12. Perform other duties as assigned
Pay Range:
Salary negotiable based on experience.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Science, or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
