PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST - (T230660)

Description

To strengthen and safeguard UAB's brand as a part of the Public Relations (PR) team through strategic content creation, management, and media relations, ensuring proactive and responsive communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops content ideas and creates materials such as news releases, feature articles, newsletters, and promotional assets for internal and external audiences.
  • Ensures clear communication of key messages while maintaining adherence to style guidelines.
  • Curates and manages media lists while coordinating proactive and reactive media efforts to enhance UAB's visibility and representation across national, regional, trade, and local news outlets.
  • Identifies and implements the most effective channels and distribution methods to maximize reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Plans and executes PR events, including press conferences, to enhance media engagement and brand visibility.
  • Represents the institution as a spokesperson, managing official communications and media relations to uphold its reputation and strategic messaging.
  • Collaborates within the PR team to manage sensitive issues, facilitating and coordinating effective internal and external communications during crises and emergencies.
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Communications teams and key stakeholders to ensure alignment between central and distributed PR efforts with institutional messaging and objectives.
  • Compiles and analyzes relevant data to generate reports while staying informed on current trends and developments in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $47,665 - $61,965

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in communication, journalism, public relations or a related field. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
