Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST to join a fast-paced, purpose-driven Learning and Development team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for keeping things running smoothly by managing communications, coordinating training logistics, maintaining learning records, and supporting new employee onboarding. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communication Management: Respond to and manage inquiries across the department’s incoming mail account and Employee Support Ticketing System (Freshdesk).
Campus LMS Administration: Maintain comprehensive training records of enrollment or registration processes in our Learning Management System (LMS) by tracking attendance and uploading session recordings in a timely manner.
Program Support Logistics: Coordinate event logistics by setting up and breaking down training rooms and validating participant parking.
Inventory & Procurement: Order and maintain inventory of office supplies, snacks, program materials, and occasional catering to support daily operations and special events.
Orientation Enrollment: Manage the enrollment process for New Employee Orientation (Discover UAB programs), including registration tracking, roster updates, and participant communications.
Virtual Program Support: Attend all virtual programs in the support role of producer to assist with Zoom settings, polls, chat, and links.
(Hourly Rate: $18.85 - $23.65)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Skills:
Technical Expertise: Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to input data quickly and accurately.
Task Management & Organization: Uses tools or systems to manage tasks, prioritize effectively, and stay organized. Consistently meets deadlines with minimal oversight or reminders.
Professional Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders both in person, virtual, and in writing.
Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrates responsiveness, empathy, and professionalism in stakeholder interactions.
Time Management & Independence: Manages workload independently and follows through without frequent follow-ups.
