COUNSELOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE II-SOM PSYCH- PART TIME (MONTGOMERY, AL)

Description
Under general supervision, provides clinical assessment, counseling, drug education and case management for substance abuse clients in accordance with government and department standards. Provides general orientation and supervision for Substance Abuse Counselor I s as needed. Responds to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients as the need arises.
Counselor for UAB Montgomery Street Psychiatry Program. Work with Psychiatrist to counsel and treat local homeless population.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts psychotherapy and counseling sessions with clinic patients including group, individual and family sessions.
- Maintains knowledge of current professional trends and developments.
- Interviews patients, families and significant others to obtain personal history relative to diagnosis and treatment.
- Provides psychosocial clinical assessment.
- Completes patient documentation according to government and department standards.
- Facilitates and reviews individualized treatment plans according to standards.
- Provides case management/casework functions.

Location: Onsite in Montgomery, AL.
Salary Range: $20.80 - $24.80
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Mental Health, Social Work or related Human Services field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Must obtain one of the following licensures within thirty (30) months of eligibility with DMH: a) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC), b) Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners c) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy d) Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) by the Alabama State Board of Social Work e) Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) by Alabama Association of Addiction Counselors Certification Board Examiners
Preferred:
- Master in Education, Social work, Mental Health, Nursing or Counseling
