General Responsibilities

Balancing the demands of today's healthcare environment and in conjunction with the UAB Health System, the CEO provides the visionary leadership, strategic direction, and proficient operational management for Russell Medical. Articulates a vision for the hospital and develops the direction and growth strategies necessary to achieve stated objectives and provide services needed in the local market. Directs the overall operations of the hospital, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensure and accreditation requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, develops and implements a clear and cohesive strategic vision for the hospital ensuring alignment with community health needs and regulatory changes.

2. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, manages the hospital’s financial health by overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation to ensure sustainability and profitability. Meets or exceeds approved budget forecasts based on the strategic plan.

3. Leads, mentors, and develops the senior management team to ensure alignment with strategic goals and the efficient delivery of day-to-day operations of the hospital including clinical services, administrative functions, and support services.

4. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, serves as the chief spokesperson and advocate for the hospital within the community, promoting health initiatives, community outreach, and partnerships with local business organizations and other related constituencies.

5. Builds collegial relationships and maintains open and effective communication with the hospital board, medical staff, employees, and UAB Health System management and other stakeholders, keeping them informed and involved in key decision-making processes. Works with system leadership and other staff to develop and prioritize goals, objectives, and initiatives to be carried out within specified timeframes.

6. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, promotes the adoption and integration of new, innovative technologies and practices to enhance patient care and improve operational efficiencies.

7. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in clinical quality and patient safety and ensures adherence to best practices and clinical guidelines. Communicates quality and safety standards to all appropriate parties. Monitors clinical performance metrics and implements corrective actions as needed.

8. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, ensures that the hospital complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as healthcare standards , accreditation and licensure requirements and organizational policies.

9. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, directs the hospital's human resources strategies and functions to ensure compliance with all employment-related laws and builds a high-performing workforce by maintaining a culture of openness, respect, and teamwork for all providers and staff of the organization.

10. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, prepares for and responds to emergencies and crises, ensuring the hospital can effectively handle unexpected events such as natural disasters, pandemics, or financial downturns.

11. In conjunction with the UAB Health System, prepares and presents reports to the Board on the hospital’s performance, initiatives, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business, or a related field and ten (10) years of experience at the administrative level required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in a multi-hospital system preferred. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

Strong understanding of healthcare policies, regulations, quality standards, and compliance.

Proven track record of successful financial management and operational excellence.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
