General Responsibilities:

The Manager-Research Systems-Research Tech & Comms position is responsible for managing the team tasked with the review, selection, scope of work (SOW) development, contract negotiation, implementation, deployment and on-going maintenance of all UAB enterprise-wide research administration systems including both on-prem and cloud software systems. The role will oversee the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing. Responsible for trouble shooting functional and technical system issues as reported by end-users. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products to research leadership.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Leads all aspects of the university-wide myUABResearch electronic research administrative system deployment including selection, negotiation, implementation, testing, training and support for all UAB research faculty, support staff, central research administrative units and research leadership.

  2. Responsible for all UAB research legacy systems including IRAP and Bioware.

  3. Manages all aspects of UAB system conversions including data clean-up efforts, data migration, reporting conversion including cross-walk report development and deployment.

  4. Leads the financial system integration (FSI) between HRS and Oracle Financials including payload testing and development of operating procedures (SOP) for UAB’s Office of Sponsored Programs and Financial Affairs.

  5. Leads campus-wide awareness and communication campaigns including periodic Town Halls, Office Hours, virtual module training, instructor sessions,

  6. Mentors and coaches RTC system direct reports including onboarding, scheduling, counseling, budgeting, and performance assessments.

  7. Manages all university-wide research administrative systems including InfoReady, Pivot, LabArchives, Priority Software (FBS and BA4). Lead the team directly responsible for operationalizing, work-flow development, systems administrative management, testing, upgrades, patching and training.

  8. Provides Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) training support including development and deployment of all training curriculum for each EHS unit. Responsible for EHS OnSite system training.

  9. Serves as the UAB CITI training administrator for research compliance training.

  10. Responsible for the UAB Learning Locker (LMS), Docebo, and HealthStream research training administration including reporting.

  11. Performs other duties as assigned

Pay Range: $89,880 – $146,055

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
