Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a RESEARCHER SPECIALIST. As a Researcher Specialist, you will be recognized as an expert in your field, leading specialized research initiatives with a high level of autonomy. This professional-level position entails developing innovative research methodologies, securing external funding, and influencing the strategic direction of research programs. Your role will also involve extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, disseminating research findings, and driving technological advancements. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Conducts independent biophysical and biochemical research projects.
  2. Coordinates and supports student-directed research projects.
  3. Manages access and trains new users, both internal and external, on specialized laboratory equipment.
  4. Manages aquatic model organism husbandry.
  5. Prepares and edits manuscripts and grant proposals.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $60,835 - $98,855)

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Hard skills: well-versed with protein expression and purification techniques; extensive experience with confocal microscopy use, application, and image analysis; familiarity with Xenopus laevis husbandry.
This role involves research collaborator contact and work with biological specimens and aquatic research models.
