Job Description:
The Registered Nurse reports directly to the ASU Nursing Supervisor. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care in assigned area based on individual patient needs, medical plan, and in accordance with established nursing standards and administrative policy. The RN utilizes the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The RN communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team to coordinate quality patient care. The RN participates in maintaining unit organization. The RN participates in staff development conferences and programs. The RN guides and teaches auxiliary personnel and assists in the orientation of new staff members. The RN performs other related duties as necessary. Participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies
Key Responsibilities:
· Implements and monitors patient care plans.
· Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
· Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
· Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
· Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
