UNIVERSITY EVENTS SPECIALIST

The University of Alabama at Birmingham

General Responsibilities:

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a University Events Specialist to support the Office of Advancement and the Heersink School of Medicine. This position will plan, coordinate, and execute professional and/or special events. This position determines the range and scope of event services in order to arrange a well-planned and executed event. The University Events Specialist may negotiate contractual agreements and ensure the terms of catering contracts are followed within budget guidelines. The position may plan, coordinate, publicize and implement more than 40 events per year.

This position works closely with the other members of the Advancement Office and the Heersink School of Medicine.

This position is hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates, and executes events including aspects such as venue choice, catering, transportation, security, audio / visual and entertainment.

  • Collaborates with communication teams on efforts such as invitations, digital and printed materials, and mass communication efforts.

  • Collaborates with financial teams on determining budgets, processing contracts and invoices.

  • Connects with various stakeholders, including but not limited to, faculty, leadership, staff, donors, etc. for understanding and executing the vision and purpose of each event.

  • Supports not only assigned departmental events, but additionally, events and projects from the HSOM dean’s office.

Pay Range: $47,665 - $60,000

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
