(working Title - Wellness Promotion Coordinator)

General Responsibilities:
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Wellness Promotion Coordinator to join the Health Promotion and Prevention department within the Division of Student Affairs. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based health promotion initiatives that support student well-being. The Coordinator will coordinate the peer health education program, serve as a liaison between university departments and student organizations, and contribute to multi-disciplinary wellness initiatives.
This position requires strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills to engage students and campus partners in fostering a culture of health and wellness.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate the peer health education program, including recruitment, hiring, training, management, supervision, and evaluation of paid and/or volunteer peer health educators
Design, implement, and evaluate health education and prevention programs tailored to UAB students, ensuring they align with best practices and public health principles and are effective
Coordinate outreach efforts within the department and in response to campus partner requests
Manage the design, marketing, and execution of department services, programs, and events across campus
Work collaboratively across departments to integrate wellness initiatives into broader campus programs and student engagement strategies
Performs other duties as assigned
Pay Range: $35,570-$45,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Higher Education, or Social Sciences (Psychology, Social Work) and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops.
Knowledge of health promotion strategies, student development theory, and leadership development.
Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Familiarity with social marketing and health communication strategies.
Ability to supervise, train, and mentor student staff while fostering a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with a professional and collaborative leadership style.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to team-based initiatives.
Preferences:
Master’s degree preferred.
