Engineer Associate (Campus Maintenance)
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Description
Under the supervision of division management, assists in the development of viable system and component concepts and designs based on project requirements and assists in conducting field observations and inspections. Supports the preparation and development of technical documents.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Assists in the design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across campus buildings.
- Conducts inspections and troubleshoot issues in HVAC units and campus energy systems.
- Supports the development of layouts and system modifications using AutoCAD or similar tools.
Performs engineering calculations and simulations to support maintenance planning.
Monitors progress and ensure compliance with university standards and safety regulations.
Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and system performance.
Participates in training and development programs to enhance engineering skills and knowledge.
Performs other duties assigned.
ANNUAL RATE OF PAY RANGE: $45,395.00 - $59,015.00 - $73,770.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications).

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education
requirement.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS:
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Diagnoses system issues and develops effective solutions to restore functionality and optimize performance.
- Knowledge with building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and energy infrastructure within campus or institutional settings.
- Ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions
Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively
Independent Judgement/Problem Solving
Performs duties with general supervision, using established procedures. Occasionally uses independent judgment to solve problems and may recommend improvements. Unusual problems are reported to the supervisor.
Customer Service Relationships
Requires basic people skills and civil communication. Forwards complex complaints to the appropriate person.
Needs moderate communication skills to understand and address customer requests. Acknowledges and clarifies inquiries or complaints.
Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:
Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
Climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, and working at heights above thirty (30) feet
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus
Working in confined spaces
Working within extreme temperature ranges
