ASSISTANT DIR-ACADEMIC INITIATIVES & SECOND YEAR EXPERIENCE

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • To provide leadership that fosters an environment focused on a holistic student experience, academic learning and growth and community development for all residential and second year students at UAB.

  • To facilitate a residential curriculum programming model and development of educational and engagement hall programs and initiatives.

  • To provide oversight for Learning Communities.

  • To direct the administration of the Second-Year Experience program.

  • To lead and foster a culture of student leadership development.

  • To collaborate with the UAB academic schools and colleges, the Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center, UAB Writing Center, Retention Initiatives, Student Involvement and Leadership and other areas within and outside of the Division of Student Affairs

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

Degrees in higher education, education, human services, psychology, social work, or public administration.

Salary Range: $47,665-$61,965

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Counseling or a related field and three (3) years of related experience is required.

  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
