The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Med - Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a skilled and experienced Researcher Senior to join their team. As a Researcher Senior, this position will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgment designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistance in publishing findings. This position requires contact with animals and/or specimens.
As a Researcher Senior, you will have expanded responsibilities, overseeing complex or multiple research projects and providing strategic direction. This professional-level role involves mentoring junior researchers, managing project budgets, and ensuring the integrity and quality of research outcomes. Your expertise will be critical in guiding experimental design, data interpretation, and contributing to high-impact publications. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Performs basic theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge; the research involves animal experiments and requires single/cell/nuclear RNA seq data analysis.
Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.
Publishes activities, findings and conclusions in recognized scientific publications and presents same at appropriate scientific conferences and forums.
Responsibilities are within the Research Function as a highly skilled generalist or in a combination of related disciplines.
Proposes improvements to processes; solves complex problems of a recurring nature.
May act as a project or team lead, coordinating and facilitating the tasks of others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $ 60,835- $66,000

Qualifications
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Preferred knowledge on some computer software, including but not limited to: Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel, graph pad, basic statistical techniques, Image J, software for single cell/nuclear RNA seq data analysis.
