RESEARCHER SENIOR
University of Alabama at Birmingham
Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Med - Hematology & Oncology, is seeking a dedicated Researcher Senior to join their team. The position will be involved in conducting research in two projects on top of minor projects in the laboratory. In the first project the candidate will study the mechanism of prooncogenic functions of cellular oncoproteins in the initiation and progression of lung and colon cancers. The position will conduct research using in vitro and in vivo experiments to determine how abrogating these signaling in lung and colon cancers will decrease tumorigenicity and metastasis and will sensitize tumors to chemotherapy. The position will also investigate the effects of these proteins on changes in immune profile, which may play a role in tumorigenicity. In the second project the candidate will be working on repurposing a drug in colon cancer and understanding its mechanism of function. The candidate will determine the downstream effector pathways of this drug in cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, and finally tumorigenicity in vivo. The alterations in lung and colon cancers in tumor microenvironment and the immune landscape after treating with the drug in vivo will be determined using omics-based experiments.
As a Researcher Senior, you will have expanded responsibilities, overseeing complex or multiple research projects and providing strategic direction. This professional-level role involves mentoring junior researchers, managing project budgets, and ensuring the integrity and quality of research outcomes. Your expertise will be critical in guiding experimental design, data interpretation, and contributing to high-impact publications. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
