Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an ACADEMIC ADVISOR III to serve as Blazing Start Program Coordinator.

Blazing Start is an academic support program designed to serve conditionally admitted students beginning at Orientation throughout their first year at UAB. A dedicated Academic Advisor works directly with Blazing Start students, ensuring they have the resources and support necessary to be successful in college. In addition to providing academic support, the Blazing Start program encourages campus involvement, so students feel engaged and connected to the UAB community.

The Blazing Start Program Coordinator/ Academic Advisor guides participating students in developing academic skills, provides resources for student success, and holistically supports students’ first-year transition at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Develops program materials, tracks completion of program requirements, administers satisfaction surveys, and compiles annual report.

The Blazing Start Program Coordinator also serves as the Program Advisor to the Blazing Start Student Leadership Council, with a specific focus on event planning and implementation.

(Annual Salary: $46,530 - $51,677)

Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
