Job Description:
To assists in the operation of UAB Callahan Eyewear by professional dispensing of eyeglasses and frames, filing eyewear and contact lens claims, assisting with inventory control, posting patient and insurance payments to patient accounts, processing payroll deduction forms, submitting claims to third-party payers, reviewing patient accounts, and assisting patients with billing-related questions. The position reports to the Manager of UAB Callahan Eyewear.

High school diploma or equivalent. Computer proficiency; experience with Microsoft Office programs, Electronic Health Records (EHR). Medical or ophthalmic terminology and basic anatomy and physiology preferred. Minimum two years optician or eyecare experience working in insurance billing (ICD and CPT-4 coding and insurance claims processing), preferably in an eye care setting preferred. Optical lab experience is preferred
