Description

Position Summary:

Directs operations of a programmatic function. Operates with a high degree of independence. Responsible for program development, content and administration. Establishes program objectives, manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding. Prepares various reports for program.

To serve as senior staff lead and liaison with clinical/research staff, University Departments, ancillary departments and/or external collaborators. Oversee intramural/extramural research portfolio for Division faculty including NIH funded center grants (e.g. R/P series), PCORI, industry funded, and investigator initiated clinical trials.

Individual will also work with the Division Administrator and Grants Manager to collaborate OSP/ASSIST/COMMONS submissions, assisting with the preparation of scientific research plans/protocols, budgets, justifications, and all ancillary grant documents (e.g., Human Subjects, Facilities Resources, etc), and drafting/editing progress reports). Individual will also work with senior staff to assist with overseeing day-to-day operations of research projects with support from faculty and principal investigators, including arranging meetings, scheduling speakers, IRB/regulatory submissions, drafting/editing scientific reports. In collaboration with study PIs and Division Administrator operates with a high degree of independence with strong analytical thinking and the ability to approach complex scientific problems creatively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to work efficiently in a multidisciplinary environment, with the capability to integrate various scientific domains.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively to assist PIs, clinical research director, and play a leading role in overseeing Division's research portfolio including supporting day to day operations of large national multi-site study(s) (n=20+ sites)
  • Assist with developing budgets for studies; oversee completion of study startup activities, and regulatory filings maintenance (e.g. single IRB).
  • Assist with negotiating contracts with sponsors and sub-sites.
  • Train, manage, and delegate tasks to staff (e.g. electronic health record queries, data entry, initial clinical billing development; IRB renewal preparation, invoicing, payment requests).
  • Assist with invoice management of Division research studies including receiving, approving invoices based on completion of study milestone
  • Help ensure clinical research study(s) recruitment goals are monitored/maintained
  • Assist PIs, clinical research scientist, and clinical coordinators to develop and maintain/update manual of operating procedures including strategies for recruitment for Division studies
  • Assist PIs, clinical research scientist, and Nurse Coordinator with FDA filings, regulatory submissions, and maintaining documentation
  • Assists in the preparation of scientific reports for Division research program including scientific papers/abstracts as well as study specific administrative reports that will include and screening/recruitment reports by study
  • Work as a scientific collaborator and facilitates the development of research questions and study protocols
  • Work with clinical research scientist, and clinical coordinators to ensure data integrity and answer data queries. Works with the study PIs and Division Administrator to recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff with very high level analytical and technical skills.
  • Contributes to Division research strategic planning on a variety of topics relative to clinical research to convey knowledge as appropriate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for publishing research, delivering presentations, and grant writing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $60,835- $98,855

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
