The Department of Neurology's Movement Disorders division seeks to hire a new Researcher Associate position for the laboratory of Dr. Harrison Walker. This position will involve work in a well-established research lab including direct work with the PI, lab personnel, and students. This position requires a moderate degree of independence to oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for some of the day to day operations of lab activities. Research tasks will include the recording and analysis of electrophysiology signals from the intraoperative and outpatient settings. The successful applicant will assist in studies including experiment preparation, documentation and protocol design.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
- To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
- To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
- To develop and improve techniques for the lab.
- Contributes to planning/design of studies.
- May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management.
- Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Bachelor’s or Associate’s neuroscience, biology, chemistry, laboratory science, computing, etc.
Hard skills: experience with scientific studies, knowledge of neurodegenerative movement disorders, experience with statistical software such as R and Rstudio
Soft skills: good communicator, willing to work in a team environment, adaptable to change
Hourly Range: $19.80- $32.15
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
