Description

Position Summary:

The UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care (CPSC) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Education Coordinator to support the Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care (GGPC) training initiatives. Under general supervision, the coordinator will manage educational activities, assist with event planning, and coordinate learner rotations while ensuring smooth communication between faculty, residents, and medical students. The coordinator will work closely with the leadership of the CPSC and the Program Manager for Education in the administration of specialized training opportunities in Palliative Care.

To coordinate the activities and operations for the educational program(s) of a specific student group (e.g. medical students, residency programs, fellowship programs). To maintain records, schedules and program information. To perform general program related duties for incoming, continuing and outgoing clerkships, residents, medical students or fellows.

Responsibilities:

  • Educational Coordination Scheduling: Oversee all aspects of resident, medical student, and non-GGPC fellow learner rotations (e.g. Heme/Onc, PM R, etc) Collaborate with faculty leads and education administrators to create and manage schedules. Communicate with residency programs and interns about rotation requirements, including clinic obligations, vacations, and exams. Coordinate clinician availability and capacity for accommodating learners. Distribute final schedules and communicate updates with relevant stakeholders.
  • Training Event Support: Provide logistical support for various training initiatives, including UAB Talk, AACS, PCCS, etc. which are specialized training programs. Assist in planning and executing educational events and workshops. Manage data collection and survey distribution for training programs.
  • Administrative Financial Support: Process payment requests and reimbursements for GGPC training faculty and guest speakers. Maintain accurate records of training-related expenses. Attend education and training programs as appropriate
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Salary Range: $19.80 - $32.15

Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferred:

  • Degree disciplines would include business, public health, health education, and health administration.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant data management tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, clinicians, and administrative staff.
