Position Summary:
As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Operate the cyclotron and associated systems and subsystems for routine radioisotope production. Assist in the maintenance of the cyclotron and related equipment under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager - cyclotron. Assist in the radiosynthesis of novel radiotracers. Follows site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the facility. Understands and contributes to radiation safety protocol and procedures. Support daily production of PET isotopes. Support cyclotron particle accelerator operations. Perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed. Works safely with radioactive materials. Capable of lifting 50 Lbs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Engineering Manager - Cyclotron and other Cyclotron Facility staff in preparing the facility for daily operations through cleaning, equipment, and quality control testing.
- Assists the engineering manager of Cyclotron with performing Cyclotron prechecks and operation of particle accelerator for isotope production for clinical and research purposes.
- As standard operating procedures prescribe, perform necessary pre-isotope production checks, including temperature, humidity, and gas pressure checks.
- Supports clinical and research radioisotope production.
- Prepares, ships, and communicates as necessary for DOT radioactive shipments
- Assists Cyclotron engineer with routine cyclotron and related equipment operations.
- Assists cyclotron engineer in major maintenance of the cyclotron and related equipment, including synthesis modules.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $19.80 - $26.00
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred:
- Degree in Radiology or a related field
- Soft skills: multi-tasking, ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment, organized, Written and verbal communication skills, team player
- Hard skills: Precise measurements, Microsoft Office, Acuity with numbers, and Problem-solving skills.
