FINANCIAL OFFICER II
The UAB Office of Research (OoR) is comprised of over 220 employees tasked with maintaining all aspects of research administration and animal care for the university. The larger units within the OoR include the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Material Transfer Office, Research Regulatory Oversight, Responsible Research Practices, Research Development, and the Animal Resources Program. The OoR is led by the Vice President for Research with a direct reporting line to the President of the University.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages and works closely with department leadership to oversee, track, and report expenditures of a large, complex budget
- Process the billing/invoicing and collections for services
- Develops financial statements and provides reports to the department director on a regular and requested basis
- Monitor budget expenditures and complete monthly account reconciliation
- Perform complex financial analyses for defined departments or areas to address specific questions, concerns, and requests for the information presented by senior administrators
- Projects and develops budgets for assigned department(s)
- Oversee the processing of payment requests, journal entries, salary reclass, purchase requisitions, and other transactions
- Interacts with vendors and internal finance department in regard to compliance with UAB policy and procedures for contracts
- Grant award management: pre and post award management including budget development, expenditure review, and effort reporting
- May assume some payroll duties related to grant-funded positions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Annual Salary: $55,180 - $71,735
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Preferred Qualifications
- UAB Oracle Financials- proficient user for financial reporting and sourcing data ( GL and GA accounts)
- Ability to manage a budget
- Ability to problem-solve
- Ability to work independently
- Interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of billing and collections
- Knowledge of cost accounting and budget systems
