EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Police and Public Safety Department Seeks an Emergency Management Coordinator. The Emergency Management Coordinator will coordinate administrative activities for the UAB emergency management program, in the areas of response and recovery plans, training and exercises and emergency support functions. They will also support the leadership on ongoing compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Develops and documents activities related to the UAB comprehensive emergency response
program and assists in departmental procedures and systems used in emergencies.
· Conducts evaluations of institutional systems used during emergencies on campus, including mass notification, weather monitoring, incident management software, etc.
· Coordinates the development of departmental plans for emergency response and business,
· academic, research and/or patient care continuity.
· Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory agencies related to disaster preparedness and response.
· Designs and administers emergency response training to UAB personnel.
· Assists with maintaining the 24-hour capabilities of the Emergency Operations Center, including serving as the point-of-contact on a rotational basis with the supervisor.
· Manages the Emergency Operations Center in coordination with the supervisor and provides direction to assigned personnel.
· Coordinates the institutional response to an emergency.
· Monitors weather and makes recommendations to the supervisor if the weather is likely to alter campus class schedules or events. Assists in maintaining UAB’s all hazards’ plans, and emergency operations plans up to and including bi-annual reviews, gap identification and developing new plans as needed.
· Evaluates incident response and exercises, documents corrective actions and creates ongoing reports.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly salary range: $21.10 - $34.30
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Public Administration or a related field and
two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience MAY substitute for education requirement.
